This cute pair of novelty soaps featured a standing owl and a standing pussycat and came with a boat shaped sponge for extra fun in the tub. They were packaged in a colorful paperboard retail box. The Fuller Brush Company created this item but wer're not sure when. You might assume that it was sold in the same era as the popular movie "The Owl & The Pussycat" which premiered in 1970. However, that was also the name of a nonsense childrens poem first published in 1871 by Edward Lear. That poem appears on the back of the package!  It begins with; "The owl and the pussycat went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat. They took some honey and plenty of money wrapped up in a five pound note!

The Fuller Brush Company was formed in 1906 so this offering may very well predate the movie. Do you know when this rare pair was sold?  Write to us!
